AGC Safety Academy Webinars

May 14 and 17 the AGC of South Dakota will be hosting webinars to further describe the Safety Academy for those who want to know more.

An excellent safety culture is hard to define and harder to achieve. The AGC of South Dakota Safety Academy is formatted to assist members in the development of a culture of safety excellence. Join us for a 1 hour webinar to learn about the Safety Academy and how your company can take steps towards a stronger safety program.

OSHA 10 HOUR

Sioux Falls - May 14  from 1pm to 5pm& May 15 from 8am to 3:30pm AGC office, 2307 W 57th St, Suite 101.

Rapid City - June 11 from 1pm to 5pm and June 12 from 8am to 3:30pm location TBD.

Facilitators identify safety and health principles that help you meet OSHA requirements. Special emphasis is placed on areas in construction that most commonly result in worker injury or property damage. You are also briefed on basic instructional approaches, improving compliance communication, and training at the work site.

New I-9 Instructional Webinar

Beginning today, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) division of the Department of Homeland Security will require all employers to use the newly released Form I-9, the Employment Eligibility Verification Form.  The new Form I-9 is longer and more complex than the previous version and comes with new rules affecting which documents may be used to verify the employment eligibility of workers.  There are also new instructions and additional data fields for employees and employers.  To help employers comply, AGC will host a compliance assistance webinar on the new Form I-9.  The webinar will take place on Thursday, May 23 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. EDT.  The cost to participate is just $49 for AGC members and $79 for non-members.

Wyoming Safety Improvement Fund

A program offered by Wyoming OSHA – Risk Management that can help businesses implement health and safety training or help them to purchase health and safety equipment beyond regulatory requirement. Up to $10,00 per applicant is available per year, while funds are available. The employer must match 10 percent and any cost exceeding the limit.

HAZWOPER Training

A 40 Hour HAZWOPER HazMat Technician course was conducted at the CIC Office September 18th-21st by Shawn Burress, Burress Advisory Group, LLC, Omaha, NE. Hazardous materials technicians are individuals who respond to releases or potential releases for the purpose of stopping the release of a hazardous substance. The course included both classroom instruction and hands-on practical application. Take note of the changing classroom environment: this course was conducted utilizing iPads rather than traditional textbooks!
