Scholarship Program
Annual Scholarship Program
The Construction Industry Center Board of Directors has established this
scholarship program in an effort to encourage and assist young people in our
community who are looking at entering fields within the construction industry.
The scholarships are specifically for children of C.I.C. member firms and their
employees. Up to four (4) awards of $500.00 each may be given to individuals
who meet the eligibility requirements as listed below. Scholarships will be
limited to one per year per award winner. The eligible individuals will be
judged on the basis of scholastic achievement, community service, school and
non-school activities and their answers to the essay questions on the
application form. The judging will be done impartially without basis of
religion, race, gender or age.
Applications are available after September 1 and a filing deadline of February
1 has been established. Winners are announced at the Annual Meeting &
Craftsmanship Awards Banquet held at the end of February each year.
Winners are presented with a certificate, which is redeemable after August 1 by
providing C.I.C. with school registration confirmation.
Eligibility Requirements:

Graduating senior in high school or higher. Must be a full time student.

Parents or guardians of applicant must own or be employed by a C.I.C. member
firm maintaining a current associate or full membership in the Construction
Industry Center.

Must be entering or attending college or trade school in a field related to the
construction industry.

Fill out application form in its entirety and return to C.I.C. by the february
1 deadline.
Craftsmanship Awards
The Craftsmanship Awards Program gives credit to outstanding craftsmen in our
industry. A program to point out to the whole community that exceptional
workmanship is still being done. A method of giving additional credit and
added incentive to the employee to do his best.
Purpose Of The Program...
For the recognition and encouragement of outstanding workmanship of the
craftsman in the application of extra effort to display true craftsmanship and
ingenuity on the job.
Who May Make Nominations And When...
Nominations for craftsmanship awards may be made by any member of C.I.C.,
architect, engineer, owner, superintendent, prime contractor or any others
connected with the industry or the project nominated. Nominations may be
filed at the Construction Industry Center any time during the year; but the
filing deadline is October 31 . Work, which may not be visible in the
completed structure, should be nominated while inspection can be made.
Those Eligible for Nominations...
Those eligible are any employees of any C.I.C. member firm performing work
within the area served by the C.I.C., namely the Black Hills - West River Area
of South Dakota -- with portions of Wyoming, Nebraska, Montana, and North
Dakota. Any item of a specific craft/trade executed by an employee for
any project, completed or substantially completed, during the current award
year may be nominated for an award.
Basis for Award...
Judging is awarded on the following points:

Pertains to the workmanship of the nominated craftsman.

What was the complexity or degree of difficulty of the project performed by the
Craftsmen?

Personal initiative and/or originality of the craftsman in the execution of the
project.
Jury of Awards...
The judging team is comprised of the Craftsmanship Committee Chairman and
members of the Construction Industry Center.
Method of Making Awards...

Nominations are turned over to the Craftsmanship Awards Committee who visit the
site, inspect the work and make recommendations for the award.

The selections for awards are then confirmed by the Board of Directors of the
C.I.C.

Craftsmanship awards will be presented during the Annual Meeting of the C.I.C.
